The University of Delaware (UD) is home to computer engineering and information sciences programs that conduct research in areas ranging from software engineering to bioinformatics. These programs produce a wealth of talent and intellectual property.
Examples of local companies with a strong connection to UD and Delaware Technology Park (DTP) are:
- Quantum Leap Innovations Inc.-an advanced software technology company, started by two UD computer science alumni, which has received government grants for complex analysis and intelligent decision making programs
- EM Photonics- a computer hardware company recognized as a leader in the acceleration of complex scientific computing and image processing, founded by a UD professor and headquartered in Newark, Delaware
- SevOne, Inc.- a graduate company of DTP that provides the fastest and most scalable data collection, analysis and reporting solution available in the market, which was founded by computer scientists from UD and a graduate company of DTP
- ET International (ETI)- a high-performance system software solution company that was incubated by UD and founded by an endowed and distinguished UD professor of electrical and computer engineering. In 2007 ETI was recognized at the International Conference for High-Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis as a technology that may most significantly reshape high performance computing
