In 2013, OEIP launched an exciting new kind of partnership called Spin In®. The program connects the external entrepreneurial community with teams of interdisciplinary undergraduate students. The goal is to offer experiential learning to students and to develop solutions to real-world business challenges. As of 2017, 130 students have participated in Spin In® conducting 23 projects and produced 5 new products and 3 new companies. Nine job offers were made by the entrepreneurs.

In 2005, the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) recognized DTP as the Outstanding Research/Science Park of the Year. Additionally, the U.S. Council on Competitiveness recognized DTP as a model research park for its regional economic development initiatives across the U.S. and Mexico.

The cumulative EPSCoR funding since 2003 is $138M, $61M direct to support capacity building and an additional $79M for faculty research education and other awards. Through the stimulus of EPSCoR, another $800M in private investment and federal and state grants created over 100 companies, 16,000 new jobs, and 350,000 sft of laboratory space.

In 1999, the decision was made by the State and UD to establish the Delaware Biotechnology Institute. The opening of DBI unleashed substantial economic development in the State to participate in this emerging market including the build out of DTP. In just two years 1999-2001, DTP went from one building to five.

DTP welcomed its first company in 1992. Since its inception, DTP has housed more than 75 companies, including 25 companies that have matured and graduated from the Park. There has been $300 million invested in the Park and an additional $300 million given to DTP organizations through research grants. DTP has helped create more than 16,000 new jobs in the community.
