The Delaware Technology Park (DTP) is a centralized hub for all technology-related matters in the region. DTP promotes partnerships with the state, academia and the private sector, a centralized geographic location, a favorable business climate, easy access to world-class research, state-of-the-art facilities and a highly educated workforce.
DTP provides much more than space for its tenants. DTP and its leadership are well-connected to the State, academia and the private. Having these resources easily accessible to tenants creates an environment that is advantageous for development-stage companies and accelerates their success.
October 14th 2016, Delaware Technology Park opened their new laboratory incubator at the University of Delaware’s Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. The Economic Development Administration’s investment will support the 10,000 square foot laboratory and office facility with shared support services. Entrepreneurs have access to the resources needed to start and grow their businesses including: Proof of concept laboratories, collaboration space, business advisory services, analytical equipment, laboratory support services, offices, individual labs outfitted to match the needs of startup companies, and shared spaces with equipment for use by all incubator tenants. DTP@STAR addresses the challenging financial, space and programmatic needs of early stage entrepreneurs and includes access to University of Delaware (UD) assets, faculty and students.
Life Sciences
The Delaware Biotechnology Institute (DBI) and the Fraunhofer USA Center for Molecular Biology (CMB) are two of DTP’s premiere features. Both are world-class life science research institutes that boast internationally recognized research leaders and focus on science that can be transferred to the marketplace.
- Built in 2000, DBI serves as the technology transfer arm of the University of Delaware (UD). DBI has led the formation of an interdisciplinary, inter-institutional, state-wide capability in life science research and education and has become the hub of infrastructure, people, programs and facilities. DBI has greatly increased commercialization opportunities and the caliber of research at UD.
- Founded in 2001, the Fraunhofer USA CMB is a contract research organization that focuses on using plant science for the formation of proteins. Fraunhofer USA CMB is a leader in bringing research to the marketplace.
Advanced Materials
Delaware is a global leader when it comes to advanced materials. It is known for cutting-edge advanced materials research and technology, with the presence of DuPont, W.L. Gore, Ashland Hercules Chemical and many emerging growth companies in the state. The state is also a leader in research, with the University of Delaware’s world-renowned Center for Composite Materials.
- DuPont science is at the core of some of the world’s most versatile materials, from nylon to specialty materials used in the Mars Exploration Rover Mission.
- W. L. Gore & Associates is a global organization that uses fluoropolymer technology in applications ranging from industrial filtration to synthetic vascular grafts.

Information Technology
The University of Delaware (UD) is home to computer engineering and information sciences programs that conduct research in areas ranging from software engineering to bioinformatics. These programs produce a wealth of talent and intellectual property.

Renewable Energy
Delaware has progressive standards and programs, such as the Sustainable Energy Utility for energy conservation, to promote renewable energy adoption and use. It is home to the UD Energy Institute, UD Center for Energy and Environmental Policy and the UD Institute for Energy Conversion.
Delaware Technology Park (DTP) is an advisor to the Delaware Technical and Community College for their workforce development programs in energy conservation and renewable energy.
